Comment on "The consensus coding sequences of human breast and colorectal cancers".Rubin AF, Green P Department of Genome Sciences, University of Washington, Seattle, WA 98195, USA. Sjöblom et al. (Research Article, 13 October 2006, p. 268) reported many new genes with an apparent significant excess of mutations in breast and colorectal cancer. Reanalysis of their data with more appropriate statistical methods and background mutation rate assumptions reveals that few if any of these genes have significantly elevated mutation rates. Published 17 September 2007 in Science, 317(5844): 1500.
